SMS Messaging Consent & Disclosure

Last updated: May 19, 2026

This SMS Policy describes the text messaging communications you may receive from University Animal Clinic (“UAC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By providing your mobile phone number to UAC and consenting to electronic communications, you agree to the terms of this policy.

Program Description

UAC uses SMS text messaging to support communication with our clients. Depending on your pet’s care and activity, you may receive any of the following:

  • Appointment confirmations and reminders. Automated messages sent before scheduled visits.
  • Service due reminders. Automated messages when your pet is due or overdue for vaccinations, wellness exams, or other recommended services.
  • Post-visit experience check-ins. A short automated message sent after a visit to ask how your experience was.
  • Recovery and care follow-ups. Messages from our nurses and front-desk team to check on your pet’s recovery after a procedure or visit, or to share care instructions.
  • Two-way client conversations. When you text us with a question, our staff will respond by text.
  • Occasional review requests. A one-time text after a visit asking if you’d be willing to leave a Google review for our hospital.

Messages are sent only to clients who have provided consent, and are limited to communications related to your pet’s care and your experience with our practice. We do not send unsolicited marketing messages.

Phone Numbers You May Receive Messages From

UAC uses two phone numbers for SMS:

  • (941) 355-7707. Our main clinic line. This is the source for appointment confirmations and reminders, service due reminders, post-visit check-ins, recovery and care follow-ups, and two-way conversations. You can text this number to reach our staff during business hours.
  • (941) 271-0730. A separate number used solely for our occasional one-time Google review request after a visit.

Both numbers are registered to University Animal Clinic.

How You Opt In

You provide consent to receive SMS communications from UAC during new-client onboarding. On page 2 of our digital intake form, you’ll see the question: “Do you consent to receiving electronic communications including text messages?” with unchecked Yes/No checkboxes. Consent is not required to receive veterinary services. If you select “Yes,” you are enrolled in all of the SMS communications described above.

For the one-time Google review request specifically, our staff also verbally confirms with you at checkout before any review-request SMS is sent. The verbal confirmation is an additional layer of consent specific to that program.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies depending on your pet’s care schedule, upcoming or recent visits, and any vaccinations or services that may be due. Some clients receive only an occasional reminder. Clients with frequent visits, active treatment, or overdue services may receive more.

Google review requests are sent one time only, after a visit, and only with your verbal confirmation at checkout.

We do not send recurring promotional or marketing messages.

How to Opt Out

You may opt out of SMS messages from UAC at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive. You will receive a confirmation, and no further messages will be sent from that number.

Because UAC uses two phone numbers (see above), replying STOP to a message from one number stops messages from that number specifically. To opt out of all UAC SMS communications, reply STOP to messages from both numbers, or contact our staff at (941) 355-7707 or staff@uacvet.com and we will remove you from all SMS communications.

Additional opt-out keywords are also recognized: CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPTOUT, STOPALL, and REVOKE.
