Dr. Sara Velic
Veterinarian
Hi, I'm Dr. Sara Velic! I've always had a deep-rooted passion for helping animals. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, I moved to Sarasota, FL as a young child. I pursued my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida, majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. I then completed my didactic veterinary education at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, spending three years in the West Indies, and finished my clinical rotations at Louisiana State University. Since graduating in 2016, I have returned to Sarasota to be closer to my family and practice medicine with a special emphasis on emergency and internal medicine. I am so a proud member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
From a young age, I have always had a love for animals, both large and small. Growing up, my passion for medicine and helping others, whether people or animals, naturally guided me towards veterinary medicine. It felt like the perfect career choice where I could combine my interests and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families.
I find immense satisfaction in helping our dogs and cats manage their various endocrine diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, and Cushing's disease. I also have a special interest in dermatologic cases, which are quite common here in Florida. Each day, I am reminded of how rewarding it is to see our patients recover and thrive under our care.
In my spare time, I cherish spending weekends and time off with my husband and our daughter, Emilia. Our two dogs, Ellie and Nessie, are always part of our adventures, whether we're fishing, sandbar hopping on the boat, hiking, or traveling. I also spent many years playing tennis in high school and college and continue to enjoy the sport. Additionally, I love relaxing with a good margarita after a fulfilling day.
